Plymouth to Exmouth a 104 mile section of The South West Coast Path
The South Devon stretch of the Coast path offers some beautiful walking through Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty combined with the busy towns of Torquay or the fishing port of Brixham, before joining the Jurassic Coast.
- Plymouth to Wembury Point - 15 miles

Leave Plymouth on the new Waterfront Walkway with excellent views over Plymouth Sound. Another of the South West Coast Path’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty leads you to Andurn Point where the path has an easy walk into Wembury. - Wembury to Bigbury-on-Sea - 14 miles

A river crossing the River Yealm the path passes of Noss Mayo and along Lord Revelstoke’s Drive. On clear days Eddystone Lighthouse can be seen which is 14 miles away. With 2 river crossing planning is required for this day. - Bigbury-on-Sea to Salcombe - 13 miles

Start the day with a crossing the River Avon to Bantham where there is an easy walk to Thurlestone. Hope to Salcombe is considered by many as one of the most stunning sections of the entire South West Coast Path. - Salcombe to Torcross - 13 miles

A tough section of the path worthwhile with some stunning views to be had. The path crosses high cliffs towards to Prawle Point and enters a Site of Special Scientific Interest with it being one of the few sites in the UK home to the rare cuckoo bee. - Torcross to Dartmouth - 10 miles

The SWCP heads through yet another Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as you leave Torcross and approach Dartmouth. Winding through woodland the path is sheltered in parts before long open fields and steep grassy slopes lead you down into Dartmouth. - Dartmouth to Brixham - 11 miles

Start the day with a ferry across the River Dart to Kingswear. The path then climbs through wooded areas with some excellent views back over the river. This section is maintained by the National Trust, so expect to see bird life in abundance. - Brixham to Babbacombe - 13 miles

The busy fishing port of Brixham is left behind as you head towards Berry Head. Amazing Geology can be found on this stretch of the coast path before entering the promenades of Paington and Torquay before the rich red sandstone leads you to Babbacombe. - Babacombe to Exmouth - 15 miles

Leaving the hustle and bustle of Torbay behind the path becomes more rugged before leading back to urbanised areas. Ferries are required to cross both the River Teign and the Exe Estuary before reaching your destination of Exmouth..
