Budget Walking provide a wide variety of Walking Holidays
When it comes to walking the South West Coast Path, there are so many choices and variations, that one size certainly does not fit all. Although the majority of nights' accommodation will be in a traditional 'Bed and Breakfast', many will prefer to pamper themselves after a hard day walking and stay in a good quality hotel. It is also very popular to stay in the many inns and pubs along the South West Coast Path. Some walkers prefer to enjoy a variety mix possibly ending up on their last night in a good quality hotel to pamper themselves before their journey home. Before deciding the type of walking holiday package, which is right for you, please consider the following choices:-
Daily walking distances and the terrain
One very important factor in selecting your walking holiday is the daily distance and the walking ability of each person in the group. At Budget Walking, we are very much aware of how easy it is to spoil a walking holiday by either too long or not long enough daily legs. We will match the ability of walkers to the distances and terrain most suitable to walking ability and fitness levels. Generally, this comes down to a choice of leisurely daily strolls averaging around 7 miles or the really testing hikes that may average 18 miles or even more. Don't forget making the right choice must also take into account the terrain of each days walk.
Bed and Breakfast or Guest Houses
There are a very large number of Bed and Breakfasts including the larger Guest Houses that take one night bookings for walkers along the South West Coast Path. Some of these are not quite located on the Coast Path, but will provide a pick up and drop off service by arrangement.
Pubs and Inns
We call it 'The Ale Trail' and find it a very popular choice, staying in some of the most welcoming pubs in the South West. Many of these Pubs and Inns will have a range of beers that includes Real Ale brewed in the many small regional breweries that have sprung up throughout the South West over recent years. In addition, many will be serving home cooked meals in their restaurants. Watch out for the dish of the day, which frequently will be locally caught around the South West Coast.
Hotel Accommodation along the South West Coast Path
The South West Peninsular has long been a favourite haunt for holidaymakers, there are many very good Hotels located right on the coast or just a short distance inland. Some are extremely well appointed even having their own Golf Course in the grounds. Most will also have a top class restaurant and provide a menu to suit all tastes.
Dog Friendly walking holidays
An increasing number of walkers wish their dogs to accompany them on their walking holiday along the Coastal Path. Budget walking will be pleased to put together a walking package to suit you and your dog. Please advise us of details of your dog when enquiring.
Rest Days
We are frequently asked by walkers to arrange an additional night's accommodation at one or more of their stops. This could be for a rest day to take a break from walking or to spend time in an area or location of particular interest. Budget walking are able to incorporate Rest Days in your Holiday if you specify this when you request your quote.
